If some of your programs can not get on internet it is probably because you had virus and you removed it but in process you lost your internet connection . Your Firefox will probably work but Internet explorer will not and page in RealPlayer for instance will not open either as it probably opens with IE . So this below might solve your problem .
Open your Internet Explorer ,open "Tools" and click on "Internet Options" .Than click on "Connections" tab and than click on "LAN settings" and clear everything from there, click OK and OK again....and I guess you will have to restart your browser and with Gods help you will have your connection again so you can surf your porn or whatever else you use your computer for .
